Times have surely changed from when I was a kid. The world expects so much from us nowadays that we have to give up alot of things that we love doing. The work place can become very frustrating at times. The cost of everything has been going up on a regular basis (with the exception of our salaries of course!) and our lives have been taken over by stress.

Some of us take time and go visit the good old doctor about our depression, while others simply don't know what to do and just go deeper into it. Most of us (If not all of us) don't eat on time or eat well for that matter or get enough sleep and exercise. Many consume alot of energy drinks cause there is only twenty four (24) hours in a day, there is simply not enough time to complete the things that we have to do.

Our bodies are like machines that we have built. We need to learn how to take care of ourselves and listen to what our body tells us. Take for example a car, when you buy a new vehicle, you are all excited about it. You would wash it almost every day, checking the oil and so on regularly. As some time goes by, you begin to devote less time in its maintenance and as a result, the parts starts to give way. After some years you will need to get a new one. Our bodies are like a car, we need to eat for fuel, we need to drink water and we need to rest. If we don't check the water in the radiator of the car's engine, it will begin to overheat and breakdown. Similarly, we need to eat on time and take care of ourselves, otherwise we will also breakdown. The difference is, we can replace a vehicle but if something has to happen to us and we die, our loved ones can't replace us.

We should prioritize how we take care of ourselves, time for our families, our work and so on. We need to slow down a bit and think carefully and put things in place. If we don't, it will be done by force. Think about it for a second, you are busy with work because you are way passed your deadline. You ignore that you didn't sleep and your body is tired because you probably drank a red bull and it kicked in. Soon enough, your body will crash and it may be bad so much so that you may have to take a couple of weeks off and you still haven't completed your task. Wouldn't it have been better if you were taking time out for yourself and not get sick? Maybe, instead of being in bed all sick and miserable, you would have been well on the job. You might of still be late on that deadline but hey! Its better late than never. Don't you think?

Common Courtesy...

One of the things that we also NEED to do is to take time out to be courteous. Most of us take for granted the little courtesies just as we take for granted ourselves. I think that being courteous to people will go a long way in helping others and yourself in feeling much better at the end of the day. Ask yourself, how many times someone has told you a simple thank you for favors done to them or the other way around. We as humans need to feel appreciated and we get so caught up that we don't do the simple things in life anymore. Isn't it nice to feel appreciated? It is nice to smile and to feel relaxed and to feel cared for by others. Let it start with you! Next time someone does you a favor or you pass by someone, say good morning or hello or ask...How are you today? You will see that person light up and smile even if that person was having a dull day.

Whatever you may be going through, it is indeed necessary to try and be positive and have constructive thoughts. First and last thing you must always do is spend time with God. Never give up on your faith and always be strong. I agree, at times it is really difficult to be positive but it is in us to at least try. Life teaches us to be strong by giving us trials. Each obstacle we pass helps us to grow and gain wisdom, no matter how hard the trial we will get through it by his grace. That is why it is important to be positive and courteous to others. We are all interdependent; no one is truly independent because we need each other at some point in time of our lives. Never burn the bridge that you may one day have to cross. Always do your best and be courteous and I’m sure that such positive energies will follow you. There are negative people out there, I agree but when you are positive, you will attract more positive thinking people around you. Whenever someone negative comes around, it is either they to start thinking positive with your influence or they move on to other things. It is a pleasure for me in helping people, and that is to see their expression of happiness, that burst of joy and such radiant smile when someone gets something accomplished! It makes me feel much happier for them than they are of themselves. I'm sure once you give it a shot you will also be a happier person as well.

Before you go to bed, remember to set your mood for sleep. This can be done by having a hot bath, putting on some soft music on and having a hot cup of chamomile tea or even some hot cocoa. Sit, relax and let your mind think of your day and then let your mind be at peace. You can even try meditation just before bedtime and trust me, you will be off to dream land in no time. If you are really tired, that to can make you irritable and you will have trouble falling asleep. When you are having your bath, try boiling some spice bark and add a few drops of peppermint oil. You will feel revived and relaxed enough to hit the sack...
